Jersey wife faces charges for terror hoax

NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- A jealous New Jersey woman will be charged with falsely reporting her husband planned to set off a bomb on his impending flight to Paris, authorities say.

Eunice Ukaegbu, 50, of Union told police her husband might be a terrorist; however, investigators said they later determined she was merely trying to scuttle a trip he was taking to Europe without her.

"It looks like that marriage went up in flames," a law enforcement official told the New York Post.

The Ukaegbus apparently got into a major row Saturday as Okieze Ukaegbu, 58, was getting ready to leave for the Newark airport to catch a Delta Airlines flight to Paris and on to Nigeria.

He was detained at the airport by police and wound up missing his plane. His original flight was not significantly delayed.

Ukaegbu told police his wife had a drinking problem, but his wife told the Post her husband had been acting suspiciously in the run-up to the flight and she did what any concerned citizen would do.

"He told me he was going to blow up the airplane," she said. "I went through his suitcase -- and I panicked."
