BOSTON, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Some decidedly Grinch-like bandits stole more than a dozen Christmas trees being sold for charity in Boston, police said.

Albert Todesca, owner of AJT Supplies, told the Boston Globe he's been selling the trees as a fundraiser for a local children's hospital. He arrived to begin a day of sales around 8 a.m. Saturday, only to find more than a dozen trees, in addition to a CD player and CDs stolen from a shed on the property.

Police said the bandits scaled a fence to access the property overnight Friday and tossed the trees back over.

"Nobody's ever done anything like this to us before," Todesca said. He estimated the last five years of tree sales had raised $15,000 for charity.

Police said they are on the lookout for people selling Christmas trees on the side of the road or in front of their homes.
