OAKLAND, Calif., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- A California teenager has pleaded guilty to killing his adoptive parents after getting into an argument with his mother over being suspended from school.
Moses Kamin, of Oakland, on Monday pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for killing his father, Robert Kamin, 55, and second-degree murder for killing his mother, Susan Poff, 50, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Karmin told police that on Jan. 26, he got into an argument with his adoptive mother, Susan Poff, 50, over his suspension from school for using marijuana. He then strangled her to death, hid her body, and waited for his father, Robert Kamin, 55, to return home, officials said.
When Robert Kamin arrived at the house, the then 15-year-old strangled him to death and put both of the bodies in the back of the family's car before attempting to light the car on fire, police said.
Moses Kamin's lawyer, Assistant Public Defender Drew Steckler, has alleged that Kamin suffers from dissociative disorder as a result of childhood trauma he suffered while living with his birth mother and then being transferred between foster homes.
Kamin, now 16, was charged as an adult and is expected to receive 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced on Jan. 25.
