TULARE, Calif., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Police in central California said Sunday three people were killed and four injured, including the suspect, in a shooting and car chase on an Indian reservation.

Details of the overnight incident in rural Tulare County were still being sorted out. However. the suspect in the slayings was among the wounded.

The Fresno (Calif.) Bee said suspect Hector Celaya, 31, is believed to have shot his two young daughters -- ages 5 and 8 -- as well as three adults who were found dead at a residence on the Tule Indian Reservation Saturday evening. A wounded juvenile was also found at the scene.

The person who called in the report of the initial shooting told the 911 operator Celaya had fled the scene with his two daughters in a Jeep Cherokee.

Sheriff's deputies were able to find the Jeep by homing in on Celaya's cellphone. The Bee said the slow-speed pursuit dipped to speeds as low as 15 miles per hour before Celaya finally stopped.

Celaya allegedly exchanged gunfire with detectives and suffered life-threatening injuries.

One of the girls in the Jeep also suffered serious wounds but the other was not as badly injured.
