SPRINGTOWN, Texas, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- A home break-in suspect in Texas made his own call to police when a man living in the house came after him with a gun, police say.

A Parker County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman said a 38-year-old Springtown-area man and his wife were awakened early Tuesday by an intruder in their bedroom. The intruder ran from the house but the husband followed with a gun and caught up with him as he was getting into a pickup truck, the Forth Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram reported.

The wife called 911, telling the dispatcher, 'Hurry up now, because my husband's fixing to shoot him," the newspaper said.

The would-be burglar had the same thought when confronted by the armed husband.

"He's going to shoot me," the suspect told the operator during his own emergency call.

The operator counseled the suspect, "No, he's not going to shoot you. Just don't move. Just don't move."

When officers arrived shortly after, they found the resident holding a gun on the man in the pickup. They took the break-in suspect, identified as Christopher Lance Moore, 41, of Bedford, into custody and jailed him on a burglary charge with bail set at $35,000.

The armed resident was not charged.
