Riders say bus crashed when driver dozed

Dec. 5, 2012 at 3:06 PM

NEW YORK, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The crash of a New Jersey Transit bus headed into New York City was caused by the driver falling asleep at the wheel, several passengers said.

The accident Monday morning, in which a bus traveling from Englewood, N.J., to the Port Authority in Manhattan swerved into a guard rail and nearly fell off an overpass onto a highway, was caused by the driver nodding off, several of the 50 passengers on board told WNBC-TV, New York.

No one was injured, but several passengers filed complaints, the television station said.
