LYNCHBURG, Va., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Lynchburg, Va., police say investigators found bomb-making materials at the house of a student who brought a bomb to a school for students with special needs.
Police said the 14-year-old student, whose name was not reported, brought a "pressure/chemical bottle bomb" to Rivermont School Nov. 29 -- forcing evacuation of the school, as well as nearby homes and businesses -- The (Lynchburg) News & Advance reported Tuesday.
The device was defused and no injuries were reported, the newspaper said.
Police Capt. Ryan Zuidema said Monday investigators found items "similar in nature" to the bomb during a search of the boy's home. He said the suspect faces charges of felony possession or manufacture of an explosive device.
Rivermont School serves students who are unable to attend conventional schools because of psychological, emotional or learning problems.
