DETROIT, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- A Detroit man, at his sentencing in the murder and child abuse of his daughter, lashed out at the judge and disrupted court proceedings.
D'Andre Lane was convicted in October in the December 2011 death of his 2-year-old daughter Bianca Jones.
Prosecutors said Lane paddled the girl to death over a bed-wetting incident, then disposed of her body in an incinerator and made up a carjacking scheme to cover up the crime. Bianca's body was never found.
In his sentencing Monday, Wayne County, Mich., Circuit Judge Vonda R. Evans imposed a life sentence, but not until Lane told her, "My daughter is alive. She's missing. She will be found."
Lane told the court he loved his daughter and all his children, and did not abuse them but did discipline them, the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday.
"I understand you want to see someone take the fall but you have yet to bring any evidence forward that says my daughter is dead," he said.
His remarks became more heated as he was escorted from the courtroom, calling the judge by her first name and repeatedly shouting, "You're a liar" to her, the Detroit News reported.
