LAFAYETTE, Ind., Nov. 29 (UPI) -- An Indiana mother is facing charges after allegedly posting a nude photo of her teenage daughter on the girl's Facebook page last year, authorities say.

Lynda A. Rusk, 50, of Lafayette was charged with child exploitation and possession of child pornography Wednesday in Tippecanoe Circuit Court, the Lafayette Journal & Courier reported.

Authorities started investigating the matter a year ago after a concerned teacher alerted them. The mother initially said she had checked her daughter, whose age was not reported, into a counseling center after seeing the nude photo on Facebook, but later allegedly admitted posting it herself by "accident" after police investigators established the photo was posted from the girl's Apple iPhone after Rusk had taken it from her, the newspaper said.

Lafayette police Detective Mark Pinkard said it took a year to investigate the case. A warrant was issued for Rusk's arrest and she faces a possible 20 years in prison if convicted, the newspaper said.

Rusk could not be reached for comment Wednesday, the newspaper said.
