Missing Colo. teen not a runaway

VALLECITO, Colo., Nov. 29 (UPI) -- A missing 13-year-old Colorado boy is not a runaway, authorities say.

Dylan Redwine hasn't been seen since Nov. 19, the day after he arrived in Vallecito for a Thanksgiving holiday visit with his father Mark Redwine. Extensive search efforts have failed to turn up the missing teen.

La Plata County Sheriff's Office investigators say they have determined the boy has not dropped out of sight of his own volition, The Denver Post reported Thursday. They are seeking help from the public, including anyone who may have filmed vehicles traveling the main roads between Durango and Vallecito Lake between 6 p.m. Nov. 18 and noon Nov. 19, the newspaper said.

Dylan had recently moved to Colorado Springs with his mother and brother. Elaine Redwine had told ABC News Monday she was concerned her ex-husband may have had something to do with their son's disappearance.

Mark Redwine told people gathered for a vigil in Bayfield Tuesday he "would do anything to find" his son.

"That boy was my whole world," he said. "You don't know how much I love that boy."

He acknowledged the tension with his ex-wife.

"Unfortunately, his mother and I don't see eye to eye," he said. "I wish it could be different because at a time like this, we should be together."

La Plata Sheriff's spokesman Dan Bender said authorities are proceeding on the assumption Dylan is still alive.

"Investigators are no longer looking at the possibility of Dylan being a runaway, but we still view this as a search and not a recovery effort," Bender said.
