TUCSON, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Prosecutors will seek the death penalty against a Tucson, Ariz., mother accused of fatally shooting her two children, court officials said.

The Pima County Attorney's Office filed documents making the allegations against Perla Morales, 26, a capital offense because there were multiple victims younger than 15, The (Tucson) Arizona Daily Star reported Tuesday.

Morales allegedly confessed to police she shot her two children, Richard Rosovich Jr., 17 months, and Emma Rosovich, 4, after boyfriend Richard Rosovich Sr. threatened to leave her.

After allegedly killing her children, Morales called 911 to ask for an ambulance, saying her kids were dead before hanging up. When a dispatcher called back, she answered and said she'd shot them and slit her own wrists. An autopsy revealed each child had been shot three times from close range.

Morales will face trial sometime next year, prosecutors said.
