Dad who drowned sons gets death penalty
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- After three sticks of dynamite were found in a bag left on a downtown Las Vegas street, traffic was rerouted and local residents were evacuated, police said.
Authorities closed 15th Street in the city Monday night after a building security guard saw a person drop a suspicious-looking bag onto the sidewalk, and flagged down a passing patrol car, the Las Vegas Sun reported Tuesday.
"They were just left in a bag," police Lt. Dan Zehnder said of the dynamite sticks. "Witnesses said it looked like a vagrant dropped it off."
The dynamite sticks were not wired to explode, authorities said.
No arrests had been made.
