BENTONVILLE, Ark., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Police said a Bentonville, Ark., man was charged in the death of a 6-year-old girl who died nearly a year after she was found chained to a dresser in her home.

Bentonville Police Chief Jon Simpson said Zachary Holly, 28, of Bentonville, was arrested Monday and charged with capital murder, kidnapping and residential burglary, KHBS-KHOG-TV, Fort Smith, reported Tuesday.

Police said Holly lived near the vacant house where Jersey Bridgeman was found last week less than 30 minutes after she was reported missing. Simpson said Holly was a family acquaintance.

Last year, police found Bridgeman chained to a dresser in the home of her father and stepmother in nearby Rogers, Ark. Court records indicated the father, David Bridgeman, told an investigator he fitted a belt around his daughter's ankle and tied her to the dresser because she was getting into medications, among other things, WHBS-KHOG said.

He and Bridgeman's stepmother, Jana Bridgeman, pleaded guilty in June to false imprisonment, permitting abuse of a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor, the television station said.

Jana Bridgeman is serving a 12-year prison sentence plus an additional three years for a probation revocation. David Bridgeman is serving an 18-year prison sentence.
