CHICAGO, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- An American Airlines flight attendant was arrested Friday for allegedly trying to bring a gun onto a plane at O'Hare airport, Chicago police said.

Airline spokeswoman Mary Frances Fagan would confirm only that the woman was a 65-year-old flight attendant, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The gun was detected by an X-ray machine about 9:30 a.m., the Tribune said.
