Alleged cannibal cop wanted holiday flesh

NEW YORK, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- A New York City cop and alleged would-be cannibal wanted to eat a woman for Thanksgiving, investigators said.

Manhattan federal prosecutor Hadassa Waxman said Gilberto Valle was recorded telling an alleged co-conspirator he'd hoped to capture and kill a woman, then eat some "girl meat" to celebrate the holiday, the New York Post said Wednesday.

Valle's lawyer said the transcript of the online chat Valle had with the unidentified co-conspirator amounted to a "sick, twisted" sexual fetish, but never an actual plan to kill anyone.

"All over the website, it says: No matter how real this sounds, this is all fantasy," Valle's attorney Julia Gatto said.

Waxman said the case has been reviewed by criminal psychologists at the FBI who determined Valle wasn't merely fantasizing and could act on his cannibalistic instincts if left on the street.
