CASA GRANDE, Ariz., Nov. 20 (UPI) -- A pickup truck going the wrong way down Interstate 10 in Arizona slammed into a tour bus, killing the pickup driver and injuring nine other people, police said.
Police said the fatal mishap, which also included a semi-trailer truck, occurred near Casa Grande, KPHO-TV, Phoenix, reported. The pileup caused authorities to close off the westbound lanes, backing up traffic for several miles.
KNXV-TV, Phoenix, reported state Public Safety Department spokesman Carrick Cook said the collision happened about 2:30 p.m. at Jimmie Kerr Boulevard. The male driving the pickup was eastbound in the westbound lane, the department said.
KNXV-TV said the bus driver and a passenger were in critical condition.
Rural Metro police spokesman Colin Williams told KPHO-TV there were more than 20 people aboard the bus. The DPS said 16 people were on board, KNXV-TV said.
