MILWAUKEE, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Kelly Rindfleisch, a top aide to former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, was sentenced to six months in jail for felony misconduct.

The sentence, announced Monday afternoon, was less than the maximum 3 1/2 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, but prosecutors said they recommended jail time instead of prison, and agreed not to seek restitution in exchange for her plea.

Rindfleisch, 44, Walker's deputy chief of staff in 2010 while he was Milwaukee County Executive, was accused of doing work for the election campaign of Republican lieutenant governor Brett Davis on county time, WISN-TV, Milwaukee, said.

She pleaded guilty to one county of felony misconduct last month in a plea deal with prosecutors, court records said.

Judge David Hansher stayed the sentence, which includes three years' probation after her jail time, pending appeal.
