Man, 80, allegedly runs down man, 76

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Nov. 14 (UPI) -- An 80-year-old Florida man was arrested for allegedly attempting to run down a 76-year-old man in a store parking lot, police said.

Ronald Allen Rokoff was charged with aggravated assault after police allege he intentionally drove his car into a man awaiting his wife to exit the Costco store in Palm Beach Gardens Monday.

Rokoff grew impatient with the unnamed man's car blocking the driving lane in front of the store and blew his horn at the parked car, whose driver then left his vehicle to determine Rokoff's beef. As the man approached, Rokoff drove forward at a slow pace, the car's bumper striking the man's legs and the front edge of the hood striking the man's thighs, the police affidavit alleges.

The alleged victim sidestepped the vehicle, and Rokoff drove off, The Palm Beach Post reported Wednesday.

Police allege Rokoff knowingly and intentionally put the victim in fear for his safety.

There were no reports of injury.
