WASHINGTON, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Human rights advocates say Uganda's pursuit of warlord Joseph Kony and other leaders of the rebel Lord's Resistance Army will fail without better intelligence.

The Enough Project -- based in Washington -- said Friday the Ugandan Army's "trekking teams" can "roam around" the country's jungles for weeks "without any clear trace" of Lord's Resistance Army, notorious for kidnappings, killings and forced enlistment of children in its ranks.

The report, based on information gathered by a researcher embedded with Ugandan troops, said the LRA remains a "very real threat" to civilians in Uganda, and called for additional deployment of troops with better logistical and intelligence information.

President Barack Obama authorized deployment in October of about 100 combat troops to central Africa to aid in the fight against the LRA, the Voice of America reported.
