WIXOM, Mich., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Police in Michigan would like to talk to a man whose image was captured on surveillance video near some of the recent highway shootings.
Wixom Police Chief Clarence Goodlein described the man as a "person of interest" and a "potential witness," The Detroit News reported.
"Someone thought he resembled the composite and also that he looked a bit suspicious," Goodlein said. "He is among several people who have been brought to our attention, not necessarily because they are suspects but people we would like to talk to about anything they might know. We think it is important that either he comes in on his own or someone who can identify him, contact us immediately,"
The man, driving a black Chevrolet Malibu, was at a gas station the same day two shootings occurred nearby on Interstate 96, Goodlein said.
No one was killed in a series of 24 shootings between Oct. 16 and Oct. 27, although one driver was wounded. Investigators say some motorists may have not realized they were fired on and have asked drivers to look at their cars to see if they can spot any bullet holes.
A multi-agency and cross-county task force said Friday the shooter is believed to be a white man in his late 20s or early 30s.
"People who know the suspect may not believe he is capable of committing these types of crimes," the task force said in a release. "He also may not necessarily have a violent history."
