UPI Poll: Romney, Obama tied at 48 percent

WASHINGTON, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- U.S. President Obama and Republican rival Mitt Romney were tied at 48 percent among likely voters, a United Press International poll released Friday indicated.

The results of the UPI-CVoter poll marked the third straight day the two candidates were tied as Election Day approaches.

Obama's favorability rating stayed at 49 percent and his disapproval rating dropped 1 percentage point to 45 percent.

The U.S. economy's malaise remained the top concern of voters, with 49 percent saying it is the biggest issue facing the nation. Unemployment was named by 15 percent, results indicated.

Twenty-three percent said they believed the economy would improve within a year while 32 percent said they expect the recovery will take two to three years. Twenty-one percent said they thought the recovery would take longer and 7 percent said they didn't think the economy would ever recover.

Results are based on nationwide interviews with 1,094 likely voters conducted Oct. 26-Nov. 1. The margin of error is 4.5 percentage points.
