SOCORRO, Texas, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Texas Rangers and state troopers arrested officials in a small town police department during a raid Tuesday.

David Garcia, a spokesman for the city of Socorro, southeast of El Paso, said he was not at liberty to say who had been arrested during the Tuesday raid but conceded it was likely at least one of the four people in custody was a cop, the El Paso Times reported.

The Rangers, long tasked with policing public corruption in Texas, didn't say what prompted the raid but it wasn't their first stop in Socorro. A former city manager was arrested for running a marijuana smuggling ring on his farm in August. Before that, the public works manager was arrested on theft charges.
