Fire at BP refinery in Texas extinguished

TEXAS CITY, Texas, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A fire at a BP refinery in Texas City, Texas, was extinguished in just over 90 minutes, officials said.

Smoke from the blaze rose high over the area, The Daily News of Galveston reported. The fire was reported at about 1:30 p.m. and was out by 3:05 p.m.

Bruce Clawson, the homeland security coordinator in Texas City, said the fire was in heavy "bottom" crude oil.

Ruth Rendon, a spokeswoman for BP, said all workers at the Resid Hydrofitting Unit were accounted for. She said there appeared to be no serious injuries.
