ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Casey Anthony's convictions for lying to Florida authorities about her missing daughter Caylee will go before an appeals court in January, her lawyers say.

Anthony's legal team filed the last paperwork necessary to proceed with oral arguments scheduled for Jan. 8 in the 5th District Court of Appeal in Daytona Beach, the Orlando Sentinel reported Tuesday.

Anthony, who was acquitted last year on all major charges in her daughter's death, is challenging four misdemeanor convictions of lying to law enforcement.

Her lawyers argue that her statements should have been thrown out of her homicide trial because she hadn't been read her rights when she was placed in a police vehicle and briefly handcuffed.

They also noted she wasn't told by police why she was being handcuffed.
