Tony now a post-tropical cyclone

MIAMI, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Tropical Storm Tony degenerated to a post-tropical cyclone Thursday in the eastern Atlantic Ocean with no watches or warnings in effect, forecasters said.

Tony, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, was about 615 miles southwest of the Azores, moving east-northeast at 22 mph, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said in its 5 p.m. EDT advisory.

Tony should continue to weaken during the next 24 hours and be absorbed by a larger low-pressure system over the northeastern Atlantic by Saturday.

Tropical storm-force winds extended outward from Tony's center as far as 80 miles.
