BROCKPORT, N.Y., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- A central New York state college student pleaded not guilty to beating his girlfriend to death in her Brockport University dorm room.
Clayton S. Whittemore, 21, allegedly admitted to Monroe County Sheriff's deputies he and his girlfriend of two years, Alexandra Kogut, 19, had been drinking and were arguing. Whittemore told officers he "just snapped" and began punching Kogut, the Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester (N.Y.) reported Thursday.
Kogut's breathing became labored and Whittemore said he beat her with a curling iron "until the noise stopped" so she didn't have to suffer, the report said.
Whittemore was being held without bail at Monroe County Jail awaiting his next court appearance, scheduled for Dec. 18.
