COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- A Time magazine poll of Ohio voters Wednesday indicated President Obama is leading Republican challenger Mitt Romney by 5 points.

The poll of likely Nov. 6 voters and those who already have cast early ballots indicates Obama is ahead of Romney 49 percent to 44 percent.

But among those who have yet to cast ballots, the candidates are in a dead heat at 45 percent apiece. Among those who already have voted, Obama leads Romney 60 percent to 30 percent.

In 2008, nearly a third of Ohioans voted early.

The poll also indicated Obama leads among women, 56 percent to 37 percent, but Romney leads among men, 51 percent to 42 percent.

Romney also leads among white voters, 49 percent to 43 percent, while Obama leads among independents, 43 percent to 38 percent.

Obama has the edge with the under 40 vote while Romney is preferred by those older than 65.

The survey by Abt SRBI queried 783 likely Ohio voters Monday and Tuesday and has an error rate of 3 percentage points.
