LAS VEGAS, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Las Vegas police said they were looking for a California man suspected of stealing $1.6 million in chips this month from the Venetian Casino.

Akingide Cole, 31, of Palmdale has been identified as the man captured on security video Oct. 10 taking a number of high-denomination chips from a closed part of the casino, KVVU-TV, Las Vegas, reported Monday.

Police said the thief pried open a case containing the chips with a tool he might have taken from a private employee area.

"Anybody that comes back to the casino to try and cash the chips in or tried to play with them will be met by security," said Lt. Robert Duvall of the Las Vegas police's Tourist Crimes Unit.

Police described Cole as a light-skinned black man, about 6 feet tall and weighing 225 pounds. They released a booking photo of him from a previous arrest.
