Police Chief Craig Junginger, speaking Friday at a late-night news conference, said the suspect is Jonathan Holt, 24, of Gresham, a family acquaintance who lived in the same apartment complex as Heichel and her husband, Clint, The Oregonian reported.

Holt was charged with aggravated murder and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.

"To say that this case brought fear and anxiety to the community is an understatement," Gresham Mayor Shane Bemis said. "Our law enforcement worked this investigation as if she were a member of their family."

Police declined to answer questions and provided no further details.
