Students arrested for beheading bird

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Two University of Berkeley, California, law students were arrested for allegedly beheading an exotic bird at the Flamingo hotel and casino in Las Vegas.

Eric Cuellar and Justin Teixeira, both 24, are facing felony charges of conspiracy and the willful and malicious torture or killing of wildlife for allegedly killing a 14-year-old helmeted guinea fowl Friday at the hotel's wildlife habitat, ABC News reported.

The two were caught by surveillance video chasing the bird into some trees and then emerging carrying its severed body, KVVU-TV, Las Vegas, said.

Hotel security detained the men and called police just after 9:30 a.m. Friday, KTNV-TV, Las Vegas, reported.

Both men were arrested and booked at the Clark County Detention Center.
