NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 13 (UPI) -- A nuclear-powered U.S. Navy submarine and an Aegis-class cruiser collided off the East Coast Saturday afternoon, Navy officials said. There were no injuries.
The 3:30 p.m. EDT maritime mishap involved the USS Montpelier and the USS San Jacinto, the Navy said in a release.
Both vessels were operating under their own power after the accident and the damage was being assessed, the Navy said.
The two ships were on routine training missions when the accident occurred. The cause of the collision was being investigated.
