Man charged in N.H. coed's disappearance

DOVER, N.H., Oct. 14 (UPI) -- A 29-year-old man was charged with killing a University of New Hampshire coed whose body had not yet been found, authorities said Saturday.

State prosecutor James Vara said Seth J. Mazzaglia of Dover was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the disappearance of 19-year-old marine biology major Elizabeth Marriott of Westborough, Mass., who was last seen Tuesday night, The Boston Globe reported.

Vara declined to provide details of the suspect's relationship with the missing student or how she died.

The hunt for her body continued Saturday on Pierce Island in Portsmouth, the Globe said.

"We're following the leads that we've been given in the investigation, and that has led us to the island," Susan Morrell, a spokeswoman for state Attorney General Michael Delaney, said.

Mazzaglia is to be arraigned Monday in Dover, Morrell said.

Marriott's father, Bob, spoke to more than 100 people who attended a vigil for the victim Saturday night in Westborough, the Globe said.

"Together we created an angel, and she is home in heaven," he said.
