LA CROSSE, Wis., Oct. 13 (UPI) -- U.S. Vice President Joe Biden told supporters in Wisconsin GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's economic policies would "double down on the Great Depression."

Biden -- making his fourth visit to Wisconsin this year and his eighth as vice president -- told an audience the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Friday Romney and his running mate, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, "are the people who talk about 47 percent of the American people being unwilling to take responsibility," the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported Saturday.

"I don't know who these guys are talking about," Biden said.

"Folks, it's time to lift the burden off the middle class, not double down on the Great Recession," he said.

A Quinnipiac poll released Thursday found President Barack Obama leading Mitt Romney 50 percent to 47 percent among likely Wisconsin voters, the newspaper said. Obama led Romney 51-45 in a Quinnipiac poll in mid-September.
