ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- A St. Paul, Minn., couple face criminal charges for allegedly vandalizing their apartment when they were evicted for non-payment of rent.

A criminal complaint was filed Wednesday against Omar Walford, 36, and Tontay Johnson, 38, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported. The owner of a duplex where they formerly lived said fixing up the damage cost $33,400.

A spokesman for the Ramsey County District Attorney's Office said the unit the couple occupied had to be completely rebuilt. The owner listed damage that included flooding, carpets and linoleum cut up, carpets covered with dog feces and trash all over the kitchen.

The couple owed $3,000 in rent when they were evicted in December 2010. The prosecutor's office said the criminal complaint had to wait until the damage had been repaired and the owner's insurance claim settled.
