Boy, 13, charged in grandparents' slaying

ERIE, Pa., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- A 13-year-old Pennsylvania boy was arraigned Tuesday on charges he killed his grandparents, and police said he was being charged as an adult.

State police said Zachery Pepper shot and killed Dorothy Fross, 67, and George Fross, 69, in their Sandycreek Township home in Venango County Sunday, WICU-TV, Erie, Pa., reported.

Police say they have not yet determined the reason behind the deaths.

The boy's parents called authorities to the home.

But police did not initially disclose what evidence led them to charge the teenager.

A preliminary hearing has been set for Oct. 17.
