Dad who drowned sons gets death penalty

DETROIT, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Detroit's police chief retired Monday amid allegations he used department resources to spy on his girlfriend, a subordinate officer, Mayor Dave Bing said.
Bing said the conduct of Ralph L. Godbee Jr., a 25-year veteran of the force whose tenure as Motown's top cop lasted less than a year, will be investigated. The mayor declined to say who will handle the probe, The Detroit News reported.
Godbee is the fourth Detroit police chief to leave the job in less than four years. His immediate predecessor left the post after allegations he had a relationship with a female lieutenant.
Bing promised to institute a citywide policy banning fraternization between bosses and their employees.
