BURBANK, Calif., Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Police in Burbank, Calif., are investigating the death of an Alaska Airlines pilot who was found along a highway, officials said.

Detectives are interviewing co-workers of 55-year-old Lee Clifford Morris as they await an autopsy in the case, the Los Angeles Times reported.

There were no obvious signs of injury -- no gunshot or stab wounds -- and no sign Morris, who is based out of Seattle, was hit by a car, said Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

A passerby spotted the body along an off ramp around 6 p.m. Tuesday and called authorities, Ryburn said. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead.
