Ga. man charged with airline ticket scam

CANTON, Ga., Oct. 4 (UPI) -- A Georgia man was charged with allegedly running an online airline ticket scam that may have been worth $100,000 or more, police said.

Rashan Lawhorne was taken into custody after a year-long investigation by Cherokee County police who charge Lawhorne purchased stolen credit card information on the Internet, then used the advertising site www.craigslist.org to promote discounted airline tickets.

Lawhorne would buy airline ticket with the stolen credit cards in his "client's" name and ask for payment in the form of cash or money orders, WSB-TV, Atlanta, reported.

Lawhorn faces 16 counts of fraud and is being held on $110,000 bond.
