CHANNELVIEW, Texas, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- A registered sex offender in Texas was arrested after he allegedly tried to hold a 15-year-old girl hostage in his recreational vehicle, police said.
Don Porterfield, 70, allegedly tried to tie up the girl but she escaped. Police said Porterfield knew the victim but their precise relationship was unclear. Records show Porterfield was convicted of sexual assault in 1990 and aggravated rape in 1976, KHOU-TV, Houston, reported Tuesday.
The owner of the Channelview, Texas, RV park where Porterfield had been living for months told the station he didn't know about Porterfield's criminal past. Police said the suspect had not updated his address, as is required by Texas law.
He was charged with aggravated kidnapping and failure to register as a sex offender.
