Parents: 2nd-graders molested their son

MUNCIE, Ind., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- The parents of a young Indiana boy say he was sexually abused by other second-graders at a laboratory school student run by Ball State University.

A couple identified in court documents as John and Jane Doe filed a lawsuit Friday against the university, Burris Laboratory School in Muncie and a teacher who taught all four boys involved, the Muncie Star-Press reported. The lawsuit identifies the alleged victim as Junior Doe.

The parents say their son was "forced, on multiple occasions, to engage in explicit sex acts with other children and forced to perform oral sex on children his own age."

The alleged attacks took place in the classroom, the school library and a bathroom, court papers say.

The lawsuit argues Burris and the teacher failed to supervise students properly or to monitor their Internet use.

Tony Proudfoot, a Ball State vice president for marketing, said "allegations of inappropriate conduct" involving four students were referred to state child welfare officials and local police in late 2011. He suggested the lawsuit's allegations are exaggerated, with "no resemblance to the evidence or results of the investigations of the university or those of the agencies to which it was reported."
