Documents released in Fla. sex scandal

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- A member of the Florida House of Representatives used a campaign phone to book the services of prostitutes, investigative documents show.

State Rep. Mike Horner, a Republican from Kissimmee, announced last week that he would not seek a third term. While he has not been charged, his name surfaced in an investigation into Mark David Risner, 55, who allegedly ran a brothel in Orange County.

Risner's alleged client lists and other documents were released Monday, the Orlando Sentinel reported. A calendar suggests Horner, using a phone number also used for his campaign, booked an hour of time for $200 in April.

A note called "Mike" a "congressman." The documents also said another "congressman" from Florida's west coast made an appointment for sex and then canceled it.

Horner's re-election was considered a near certainty. Republicans announced Monday that Mike La Rosa, a businessman and son of a Cuban immigrant, will replace him.

La Rosa is handicapped by starting his campaign with only 35 days to go before the election. Also, under Florida law, Horner's name will remain on the ballot.
