NEW YORK, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- A suburban wife and mother who became a tabloid sensation in New York when she was charged with promoting prostitution has entered a guilty plea.

Anna Gristina, described as a "Soccer Mom" in the Daily News and a "Hockey Mom" in the New York Post, agreed Tuesday to a deal that includes six months in jail and five years on probation, the Daily News said. Because she spent four months behind bars after her arrest, she is unlikely to do any more time.

But the 44-year-old, who has lived in the United States since she came here from Scotland as a teenager, could be deported.

Investigators had said she was running a large prostitution operation on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. Gristina herself claimed at one point that she had protection from the FBI and other agencies.

In the end, she admitted procuring two women to put on a sex show for a client -- who turned out to be an undercover police officer.

"They got what they wanted, but I won too," Gristina told the Post after the hearing. "I'm still pretty broken inside. I used to have the fight in me, but now I don't. And I couldn't get a better deal."

Gristina was accompanied by her husband and three of her four children, the Post said.
