Boy playing 'pass-out' game dies in fall

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- A San Diego-area teenager died after his throat was slashed by a drinking glass when he fell down the stairs after trying to make himself pass out, police said.

The 15-year-old South Bay boy was with friends at his Eastlake home when he was fatally injured Tuesday night, KNSD-TV, San Diego, reported.

Officials said the youth had been watching online clips of the so-called pass-out game. Chula Vista police Capt. Gary Wedge said the boy had been trying to make himself pass out, or had passed out, just before his fatal fall.

Wedge said there was no sign of alcohol or drugs.

The boy's parents, who were home at the time of the incident, likely would not be charged, Wedge said.
