Ryan: NFL sub refs and Obama have to go

CINCINNATI, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Republican vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan told Cincinnati-area steelworkers Tuesday both the NFL replacement referees and President Obama have got to go.

Surrounded by piles of steel, scrap metal and dirt, Ryan told several hundred supporters at the Byer Steel Group factory in Carthage, his running mate, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, would help small businesses grow and that they and other Republicans believe the nation's problems must be fixed now and not put off for future generations, WKRC-TV, Cincinnati, reported.

While light on specifics, he promised his ticket would tackle the debt crisis, reduce unemployment and cut spending, WLWT-TV Cincinnati, reported.

Ryan drew laughs from the audience when he compared the Obama administration to the controversial call by replacement referees ending the previous night's National Football League game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Janesville, Wis., native's favorite team, the Green Bay Packers, WLWT-TV said.

"You guys watch that Packer game last night? I mean, give me a break," Ryan said. "It is time to get the real refs, and you know what it reminds me of -- President Obama and the economy. If you can't get it right, it's time to get out."
