Kids, dog in trunk, Wash. driver arrested

BOTHELL, Wash., Sept. 25 (UPI) -- After a woman was pulled over for speeding in Bothell, Wash., her three children and their dog were found in her car's trunk, police said.

Anna Boyle, 28, of Woodinville, Wash., and her passenger and boyfriend Aaron Johnston, 27, were arrested on investigation of drug charges after police allegedly discovered a variety of illegal drugs and an odor of marijuana in their car Sunday morning, and Boyle's three children, ages 5, 7 and 8, with their dog in the trunk, KOMO-TV, Seattle, reported Tuesday.

The back seat of the vehicle contained a guitar, a snowboard and several bags, Washington State Patrol spokesman Keith Leary said, adding the children were unharmed but police fed them before they and the dog were taken into protective custody.

In addition to the stench of marijuana, of which Boyle allegedly told the arresting officer, "I took a few hits earlier," police said they found methamphetamine, heroin and various types of prescription pills in the car, The Seattle Times reported Tuesday.

The Snohomish County Prosecutor's Office will determine if child-endangerment charges are warranted, Leary said.
