HOUSTON, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Two Houston police officers were hospitalized Tuesday morning for injuries sustained in a collision between two patrol cars, a police spokesman said.

An officer who was driving alone in one patrol car rear-ended another, and was hospitalized with a neck injury. One of two officers in the other vehicle complained of neck and back pain and was also hospitalized.

The third officer was unhurt, Houston Police Department spokesman John Cannon said.

The police officers' names were not reported.

It was unclear whether either patrol car was responding to an emergency call at the time of the accident, the Houston Chronicle said Tuesday.
