PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- A New Jersey man who may have had ties to the Boy Scouts was arrested on federal charges of receiving and distributing child pornography, officials said.
Gerrett Conover, 47, of Woolwich Township in Gloucester County, was arrested Thursday by U.S. Customs agents after he entered the United States from Canada with a computer that allegedly held more than 50 images of child pornography, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Federal agents in Boston began investigating Conover after he allegedly traded child pornography images with another person on the Internet.
Officials said Conover allegedly stated in an online chat session that he had a long-term relationship with an underage boy and that he served as a Boy Scout leader.
Police were looking into whether Conover had ties to the scouting organization.
