HAMPTON, Va., Sept. 22 (UPI) -- A Virginia judge issued an arrest warrant for former Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick after he allegedly missed a court appearance Friday.

Vick, brother of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, had been scheduled to appear in Hampton Circuit Court to answer a charge of driving on a suspended license.

Defense attorney Lawrence Woodward told Judge Wilford Taylor his client was unemployed and could not make the trip from Atlanta to Hampton. The Newport News (Va.) Daily Press said Woodward told the judge Vick was prepared to do the 10 days in jail that came with the June 2011 charge.

The Daily Press noted Vick ran into similar trouble this spring when a Newport News judge ordered him to serve 10 days for failure to appear in court on a 2010 charge of driving on a suspended license.
