Police: Texas mom led teens on prank spree

COLLEYVILLE, Texas, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- A Texas mother is charged with leading a group of middle schoolers on a series of pranks that caused $6,000 in damage to one neighbor's home, police say.

Tara Mauney, 41, allegedly brought eight teens to a nearby Walmart in Colleyville where they photographed themselves buying the toilet paper they would use to throw into trees. The girls also wrote graffiti on homes, smeared food on the home, left a broken toilet in the driveway and shoved raw chicken in a mailbox, police allege in a criminal affidavit obtained by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Several other girls were having a sleepover at the time of the vandalism and may have witnessed some of the acts, police said.

Mauney's lawyer said his client was not present for the vandalism. She faces up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
