ANDOVER, Mass., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts pediatrician was arrested and charged for allegedly purchasing child pornography, officials said.

Dr. Richard Keller, 56, was arrested Thursday at his Andover home, The Boston Globe reported.

Prosecutors said at least 60 DVDs and 500 sexually explicit photographs of minors were found in Keller's home and that the doctor allegedly paid $2,695 between July 2009 and January 2011 to a foreign production company for those DVDs and images.

Investigators are working to determine whether Keller or a third party produced the images.

Keller worked at multiple children's summer camps, which have been notified of the charges against Keller and have in turn notified parents.

"We don't want to hide anything from parents, but we also don't want to make them alarmed over nothing," David Kowal, a spokesman and former board chairman for the Barton Center for Diabetes Education, which runs a camp for girls with diabetes Keller worked at, said Sunday.

Meanwhile, the state Board of Registration in Medicine may vote to revoke Keller's license as early as Wednesday, the Boston Herald reported.

Russell Ames, a spokesman for the board, declined to comment on Keller's case but said when physicians are charged with serious crimes, the board either holds an emergency meeting or holds a vote at its next meeting on whether the accused doctor's licenses should be revoked or if the doctor should be asked to voluntarily suspend his practice until the case is resolved.
